After months of searching, dead ends, shockers, negotiations and legals, we have finally secured a location for our new city centre bar. To say we're excited is a big chunk of understatement!! The location of our new bar is... drum roll, please.... Dale House, 35 Dale Street in the Northern Quarter. It's a raised level 1,500 sq ft unit within a beautiful listed building with a corner entrance shared with our good friends Idle Hands. We couldn't be happier with the location, our new neighbours or the excellent company we're in - and we hope to open, licensing and permissions permitting, sometime around August/September.
The bar will have 14x keg and 4x cask lines with 40/50% of the taps devoted to our own beers and the rest guest beers. We will also stock a wide selection of spirits - especially gin and bourbon - wines, natural wines, sparkling wines, ciders and cocktails. We have an excellent design team working hard to make the bar as beautiful as it can be; we hope we can create a genuinely unique, welcoming and inclusive space that really adds something to Manchester's amazing beer scene.
Some of you with good memories will remember that we were looking somewhere between Market Street and St. Peter's Square. We had a great location in mind, but it transpired that it would've taken a very long time to take control of the premises so we had to make the difficult decision to look elsewhere. We also wanted to incorporate street food into the concept but the Dale House unit simply wasn't big enough for a bar and kitchen and it felt we were shoehorning a food offering into the idea without it really working, so we decided against it. We will, however, be serving some very choice bar snacks with lots of vegan options (to go with our own beers which are all vegan).
The bar can seat around 70 and has total capacity of 120 - all less than a mile from the brewery. The huge windows stretch along Tariff Street and should be great for an afternoon/evening drink. Planned opening hours will be 4pm - 11pm Monday to Thursday; 12pm - 12am Friday and Saturday; 12pm - 11pm Sunday. We may play around with the hours until we find the right balance but we think these hours are in keeping with the area.
We will be hiring a new general manager as well as a team that's focussed on hospitality and customer service. The process has already begun to become a real living wage employer and we anticipate official accreditation will be in place very soon.
As previously mentioned, we aim to be open around August/September. We will keep you posted on developments going forward and will look to nail down an official opening date as soon as possible. A single social media account will be used for both the brewery and bar, so please follow us on the @BeatnikzRep handle (Twitter, Facebook & Instagram) for all updates going forward. We will also be crowdfunding about 4-6 weeks before the bar opens; this isn't to raise any funds for the project, but a way to give something back to the people that have supported us so far and to encourage people to come see what we're about. The pledges/rewards will be small, such as pledge £25 and get a £30 bar tab; pledge £50 to get a £60 bar tab, for instance. We'll let you know when this goes live in good time.
We hope you're as excited about this as we are and we can't wait to get started on curating some amazing drinks menus... along with some new beers from our new senior brewer (more on that in the near future) and exciting collaborations we have lined up.
